SLASH-AND-BURN FIRE - accidently scorches 30 acres in Perou
Slash-and-burn agriculture is a method of farming that involves cutting down all the vegetation and burning it. This clears the land for planting and the nutrient-rich ash improves the soil fertility. However, after a few years the soil is depleted and the field must be left to regrow slowly, while the farmer moves to a new area to slash-and-burn.

On January 19th, Sr. Rose Kelly, RJM, and Sr. Nazareth Ybarra, RJM, were presented with the prestigious William Jefferson Clinton Goodwill for Haiti Award which honors outstanding individuals who have undertaken extraordinary work and dedicated their lives to the people of Haiti. The distinguished award was presented to them in Dublin Ireland, by Haven, the leading non-governmental Irish charity working on the ground in Haiti.

20th Anniversary Issue! The 20th anniversary of the Haiti Mission will be celebrated in Haiti on Sunday, October 29, 2017. So, in this issue we highlight the remembrances of many who served in the Haiti Mission over the last 20 years.
QUEST — Volunteers for Haiti is an opportunity for women and men to live in community with sisters of the Religious of Jesus and Mary in Gros Morne, Haiti (4 hours north of PAP), ministering with the people of Haiti to impact the future of the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
